The utility boom truck owned by the Town of Beaufort was flooded as a result of Hurricane Florence. The truck was required to maintain water and sewer infrastructure throughout the town, which provided water and sewer service to 4,200 residents. The truck had been parked at a dealership in Morehead City awaiting a motor replacement. The additional damage caused by flooding resulted in the town’s insurance company totaling the vehicle. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds and insurance proceeds were used to replace the utility boom truck.
