This grant provided funding to the Columbus County Hospital Foundation to install a backup water system for the Columbus Regional Healthcare System. During the repair of damage caused by Hurricane Matthew, a main water line in the City of Whiteville was struck, resulting in a shutoff for approximately 16 hours. Golden LEAF funds were used to install a backup water system on the hospital campus.
