The grant provided funding to Greene County to install emergency equipment for the operation of the countywide water system, which included distribution, supply, and storage facilities. Hurricane Matthew had contributed to electrical outages that resulted in the depletion of water supply to the rural areas. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to install generators and automatic transfer switches at existing critical public water supply wells. These generators became permanent emergency equipment that provided a secondary source of power to critical public utility water supply facilities and ensured the appropriate volume and pressure were maintained throughout the system.
