As a result of Hurricane Matthew, a significant amount of debris impeded water flow in creeks and streams within unincorporated Cumberland County. The debris buildup created a significant risk of flooding during heavy rains. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds supported the removal and disposal of storm debris from Rockfish Creek, Little Rockfish Creek, and other priority streams.
