Several facilities owned by the City of Lumberton were flooded and damaged by Hurricane Matthew. Public Assistance from FEMA was not adequate to cover the costs incurred. The Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds met unmet needs, including building repairs, design services, and mold remediation. Damaged facilities included a water treatment plant, a fire station, two electric utility buildings, and two recreation buildings.
