This grant provided funding to Stanly Community College (SCC) to make enhancements to its Virtualization Data Center, increasing SCC’s ability to offer training to students interested in employment in Information Technology (IT). SCC created a competency-based education (CBE) training program in Information Technology-Network Management. To increase scheduling flexibility, the CBE program was offered through a hybrid instructional environment (face-to-face and digital). The CBE program was tailored to veterans, as well as incumbent and displaced workers to increase their skills for jobs in the IT employment sector. High school students participating in dual enrollment were also able to participate in the program. Golden LEAF funds were used for building renovations, to install a fire suppression system, and complete upgrades to the electrical service and cabling systems.
