This grant provided funding to the Town of Boiling Springs to mitigate flooding associated with heavy rainfall coming down from the mountains and causing rivers and streams to rise quickly. Flooding prevented residents from leaving their homes and limited EMS and police access. The high level of stormwater in the area exceeded the capacity of several culverts in the area, causing water to back up into residents and yards, and washed out a creek crossing. The project benefitted the whole town. Golden LEAF funds were used to develop an inventory and assessment of culverts within town limits. The town developed a prioritized listing of culverts for repair/replacement. The town will perform maintenance and repairs based on the prioritization and update the plan every five years.
