Briefly describe your role at Golden LEAF.
I lead work on external affairs, state-funded programs, and strategic planning for the foundation. I get to be involved in various activities of the foundation through those roles and enjoy the variety.
Describe yourself in three words.
Solutions-oriented, adaptable, and dedicated.
What’s your favorite part of your job and why?
The goal of every program and output of the Golden LEAF Foundation is to improve the quality of life for people in rural areas. Doing things to make someone else’s life better is my favorite part of my job.
What is your favorite pastime outside of work?
I have a three-year-old niece, a one-year old nephew, and a dog so my favorite pastime is spending time with my family.
What is your biggest work-related accomplishment within the last year?
Developing and launching the Food Distribution Assistance Program. I’m thankful we have added Meredith, Imani, and LaKisha over the last year to focus on the program full-time and look forward to making the final recommendations to the Board later this year.
What motivates you to support long-term economic development in rural, tobacco-dependent, and economically distressed communities?
I’ve always worked in public service, either at a nonprofit or in government. I was attracted to the mission of Golden LEAF and an opportunity to serve the state.
