Briefly describe your role at Golden LEAF.
I am the Program Officer for the Food Distribution Assistance Program. I reviewed applications, conducted due diligence, made recommendations, and now work with grantees, and support compliance for the program.
Describe yourself in three words.
Kind. Peaceful. Humorous.
What’s your favorite part of your job and why?
My favorite part about my job so far has been interacting with the grant applicants. I’ve enjoyed being able to learn about them and their projects whether it be through email, over the phone, or site visits.
What is your favorite pastime outside of work?
One of my favorite things to do outside of work is paint.
What is your biggest work-related accomplishment within the last year?
My biggest work related accomplishment has been being able to be a part of the creative and building process of the program. It has all been such a new experience for me. Learning about how the program would work for the organizations interested and for Golden LEAF has been a huge accomplishment.
What motivates you to support long-term economic development in rural, tobacco-dependent, and economically distressed communities?
Knowing that there will always be some sort of need in those communities is what motivates me. I love hearing about the new programs and strategies within the Golden LEAF Foundation, and how what is happening supports those communities. I found that there will always be a need for organizations to help with communal growth, and that is what motivates me.
