Golden LEAF announces requests for proposals, job posting to support implementation of key components of the strategic plan

“To help address some of the economic challenges facing North Carolina, the Golden LEAF Board of Directors embarked on a strategic planning process that concluded with the adoption of a long-term plan in February 2021,” said Scott T. Hamilton, Golden LEAF President, Chief Executive Officer in the June 10th All In NC update. “The goal of the strategic plan is to help Golden LEAF become more effective, efficient, and impactful in moving the economic needle in rural, economically distressed, and tobacco-dependent North Carolina communities.”

As a result, Golden LEAF has posted two requests for proposals and announced a newly created position to support implementation of key components of the strategic plan.

Site Development and Infrastructure Program
The new Site Development and Infrastructure Program will help promote economic development resulting in job creation and private investment throughout North Carolina, with priority consideration given to Tier 1 counties. For FY 2021-2022, $10 million has been budgeted for the Site Development and Infrastructure Program to make awards of up to $1 million, on a competitive basis, to eligible applicants to significantly advance a project toward development of a site that is attractive to businesses. The new Site Development Program will provide funding to support identification and evaluation of potential industrial sites, extension of infrastructure to industrial sites and limited improvement of publicly-owned sites.
