Greene County operates a countywide water system that includes distribution, supply and storage facilities. Hurricane Matthew contributed to electrical outages that resulted in depletion of water supply to the rural areas. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funding will be used to install generators and automatic transfer switches at two existing critical public water supply wells. These generators are permanent, emergency equipment that provide a secondary source of power to critical public water supply facilities and ensure the appropriate volume and pressure is maintained throughout the system.
