The utility boom truck owned by the Town of Beaufort was flooded as a result of Hurricane Florence. The truck is required to maintain water and sewer infrastructure throughout the town. The town provides water and sewer service to 4,200 residents. The truck was parked at a dealership in Morehead City awaiting a motor replacement. The additional damage caused by flooding resulted in the town’s insurance company totaling the vehicle. Golden LEAF Hurricane Florence Disaster Recovery grant funds and insurance proceeds will be used to replace the utility boom truck.
