Organization:
Trenton Volunteer Fire Department, Inc.
Amount:
$2,300,000.00
Program Area:
Disaster Recovery Grant Program
County of Applicant:
Jones
Year:
2018
Description:

Hurricane Florence flooded the town-owned fire station building used by the Trenton Volunteer Fire Department. The current station is located near the Trent River and the Brock Mill Pond. The building previously flooded as a result of Hurricane Floyd and other heavy rain events. Because the station is in the floodplain, the Trenton VFD proposes to relocate the building to higher ground. Insurance proceeds and Trenton Volunteer Fire Department funds will be used to purchase land and for replacement contents including furniture, appliances, and fitness equipment. Golden LEAF disaster recovery grant funds will be used for engineering/design, site preparation, and construction of the new station.
