Pollocksville was devastated by flooding caused by Hurricane Florence. The historic town hall, located adjacent to the Trent River, received more than 20 feet of water, rendering the building unsafe and forcing the town’s government to a temporary location. The town is exploring relocating the structure to higher land. Flooding also resulted in damage to sewer infrastructure. Golden LEAF disaster recovery grant funds will be used to repair or replace the town hall, to elevate pump station equipment, and to construct an elevated pump station and chlorination building. Funds that are reimbursed by FEMA will be returned to Golden LEAF.
