The purpose of this Golden LEAF grant is to provide support to the North Carolina Center for the Advancement of Teaching’s continuing effort to increase the number of National Board Certified Teachers from tobacco dependent and/or economically distressed counties in North Carolina in high needs curriculum areas. National Board certified teachers tend to stay in teaching longer, are more effective in their profession, and tend to stay in their home districts.
