Description:

Coquina Circle experiences frequent flooding as a result of inadequate stormwater infrastructure that does not allow for sufficient flow during rain events. As a result, water overtops the road – specifically at the traffic circle – causing residents connected to four dead ends to be trapped in their homes. Golden LEAF flood mitigation grant funds will be used for engineering and construction to make improvements around the traffic circle, including ditch resizing and upsizing of existing culverts, and for the creation of a pipe network to divert the floodwaters away into an existing stormwater network that can support the flow. Households in the immediate project area will benefit from this project as will additional households that will be able to use the traffic circle despite heavy rain events.
