Due to its location in the foothills, Boiling Springs has experienced flooding associated with heavy rainfall coming down from the mountains and causing rivers and streams to rise quickly. Flooding has prevented residents from leaving their homes and limited EMS and police access. The high level of stormwater in the area exceeds the capacity of several culverts in the area, causing water to back up into residents and yards, and has washed out a creek crossing. Golden LEAF flood mitigation funds will be used to develop an inventory and assessment of culverts within town limits. The town will develop a prioritized listing of culverts for repair/replacement. The town will update the plan every five years and perform maintenance and repairs based on the prioritization. The project will benefit the whole town.
