Wapiti Drive has been subjected to frequent flooding due to failing and undersized stormwater infrastructure, resulting in road overtopping and yard flooding. Spring Lake has identified several sinkholes along the stormwater piping as signs of failure. The town believes that the infrastructure has passed its useful life and is failing as a result of frequent overcharging and significant flood volume. Golden LEAF flood mitigation grant funds will be used for engineering and construction expenses to replace the existing infrastructure with larger capacity pipes. Households in the immediate project area that will benefit from this project.
