This grant provided funding to Richmond County to renovate and equip a facility to serve as a food center that serves Richmond and surrounding counties. A feasibility study funded by Moore County identified strong demand for local foods from businesses in Pinehurst and other nearby communities. The center was designed to allow local farmers and entrepreneurs to take advantage of that demand to grow their businesses. The center offered food-processing and storage equipment and was used by Cooperative Extension to provide educational services to farmers.
