Safe Haven of Pender, a 501(c)(3), nonprofit organization, provides shelter and services for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault. Following Hurricane Florence, Safe Haven increased capacity through double room occupancy and hotel vouchers to accommodate victims affected by Hurricane Florence from various counties. Safe Haven will provide shelter, food, personal care items, clothing, medication assistance, and applicable referrals to all victims affected by Hurricane Florence. Funding awarded from the NC Hurricane Florence Relief Fund will be used to provide for increased staff time, direct assistance to survivors, hotel vouchers, and rental/relocation assistance. Safe Haven anticipates providing shelter and services to 50 adults and 60 children who are victims of domestic violence/sexual assault who have been displaced and/or affected by Hurricane Florence.
