Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to the Town of Rose Hill to mitigate frequent flooding during heavy rain events at the intersection of Highway 117 and Charity Road. Stormwater from this area drains into and backs up in the ditch along Walnut Street, which is the main egress for the fire department. Traffic is rerouted around the affected area causing delays in response times. Frequent flooding has eroded the main ditch bank and shoulder, exposing the main sewer line. Households, businesses, and public/private entities located in the immediate project area will benefit from completion of the project. Golden LEAF funds will be used for engineering and construction to enclose a portion of the ditch and install catch basins. Ditch bank reshaping and stabilization efforts for the remaining open drainage ditch will improve and properly direct flow to the improved drainage area.
