The City of New Bern’s rescue boat was damaged during the significant number of rescues performed during Hurricane Florence. Damage to the vessel included several holes in a speed tube (under the boat) and a heavily leaking valve. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to replace the boat. FEMA Public Assistance and insurance were not available for this project.
