After Hurricane Matthew flooded the UNC-Pembroke Entrepreneurship Incubator, the university repaired damages to the facility using the incubator’s programmatic funding with the hope that FEMA would reimburse the $55,000 out-of-pocket costs. Last month, FEMA determined the incubator was not an eligible applicant and rejected the request for public assistance. This grant will be used to reimburse repair expenses so the Incubator can implement its programs, including working with new clients seeking start-up assistance and continued participation of the InnovateNC initiative.
