This award provides funding to Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) to support a regional truck driving, heavy equipment, and diesel mechanic training center called the “Regional Supply Chain Transport Complex.” The Transport Complex will house Commercial Truck Driver’s License (CDL) and Fleet Maintenance Technician programs. It will include a 900’ x 600’ training pad and a building with classrooms, offices, and a two-bay garage for vehicle maintenance. FTCC is collaborating with Bladen and Robeson community colleges to expand CDL training opportunities in the region. FTCC has secured approximately $13,000,000 in state funding to construct the driving pad and the building that will house classrooms and lab space. The anticipated enrollment in 16 CDL courses offered annually (seven courses at FTCC, seven courses Robeson, and two courses at Bladen) is 280 students (96 at FTCC, 168 at Robeson, and 16 at Bladen.) An estimated 90% of students will complete truck driving, heavy equipment, and/or diesel mechanic courses and gain employment. Golden LEAF funds will be used for construction-related costs for the driving pad.
