This grant provided funding to Hope Restoration, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, to assist with the Rebuilding East Kinston project. A key component of the project was for Hope Restoration to temporarily employ adults recovering from addictions and incarceration to restore abandoned or deteriorating homes in the poorest neighborhoods of East Kinston. Hope Restoration was also expected to coach their participants and assist them with placement in more permanent employment and to also rent the restored homes for income to support on-going project activity. Golden LEAF funds were used for participant wages and building materials.
