Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to the Mid-East Commission, a regional Council of Government, for its RAMP East (Regional Advanced Manufacturing Pipeline) project. RAMP will assist advanced manufacturing companies located in Beaufort, Bertie, Martin, Hertford, Pitt and Hyde counties to address the critical shortage of available skilled workers. The core components include teacher externships, technology training for teachers at community colleges including site visits to local industries, industry tours for students and teachers, Dream It Do It membership, and sponsorship of regional job fairs. These components will create an interest in advanced manufacturing opportunities, and also help educate the future workforce. Golden LEAF funds will be used for teacher externships and training, industry tours, national network membership dues, and regional job fairs.
