This grant provides support for the extension of an existing public road to serve a site in Archdale in Randolph County where Project Red Oak will invest $19.5 million in a manufacturing facility. The project is expected to create 129 jobs over the next five years which will pay, on average, $45,784, compared to the Randolph County average wage of $40,522. The total cost of the road construction is estimated to be $1.2 million. Other funding for the road will come from NC DOT ($322,500) and the City of Archdale and Randolph County (up to $250,000 combined). NC DOT is also contributing $200,000 to extend rail to the site.
