This grant provided funding to Stanly County for a new drinking water interconnection between Stanly County Utilities and its water supplier, the City of Albemarle, and a new pump station. The infrastructure was anticipated to provide water to the Palestine-Badin area, improve water quality, eliminate pressure problems, and increase energy efficiency in the system. This new pump station anticipated to serve more than 3,000 residents in the area, the Stanly County Airport, the Prime Power Industrial Park, and the Badin Industrial Park. Without the new infrastructure, the water system would not have been able to accommodate new significant water users in these industrial parks. This project resulted in a $1.5 million investment in new public infrastructure and was anticipated to create 200 new jobs within three years. Golden LEAF funds were used for construction.
