This grant provided funding to the Town of Nags Head to mitigate frequent flooding experienced on Linda Lane in the Old Nags Head Place subdivision due to compromise of the capacity and condition of the drainage system consisting of shallow vegetated swales by normal sedimentation, build up from the roadway, and encroachments from residences. Households located in the immediate project area benefitted from completion of the project. Golden LEAF funds were used to restore vegetated swales and install storm drainage pipe. Town staff is responsible for annual long-term maintenance including regular mowing, culvert jetting, and debris removal. The town budgeted for maintenance cycles to ensure the flood control benefits are not compromised.
