Hurricane Matthew contributed to electrical outages that resulted in depletion of available water supply to the rural areas of Beaufort County. Before restoration of limited electrical service, water department staff estimated that less than five hours of available potable water supply to serve the rural areas remained. Golden LEAF Hurricane Matthew Disaster Recovery grant funds will be used to install generators at critical water system assets located within District IV and District V of the Northside Service Area.
