The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to Surry County Schools to establish a college and career academy serving 30 local high school students over the grant term. This project will provide students access to career pathways targeting advanced manufacturing, health sciences, agriculture and other trade/industry employment sectors. Hallmarks of each pathway include the provision of virtual courses, college and career counseling, and connections to internships and apprenticeships. Golden LEAF funds will be used for virtual courses, textbooks, staff, and internship-related expenses.
