The Golden LEAF grant assisted Pamlico Community College (PCC) in enhancing its Electrical Systems Technology (EST) program. PCC’s Trades Advisory Committee and local employers indicated a need for a trained, skilled workforce to perform installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of manufacturing equipment, as well as for other positions requiring skills in electrical systems maintenance. To upgrade the EST program and meet the demands of employers, PCC needed automated equipment and a full-time instructor. Golden LEAF funds were used for personnel, software and hardware, technology, and training equipment.
