Program Area:
Open Grants Program
County of Applicant:

Year:
2023
Description:

This award provided funding to the Northeast Academy for Aerospace & Advanced Technologies (NEAAAT) to support the establishment of a career center that will be located on property immediately adjacent to the existing school. NEAAAT has collaborated with local post-secondary educational institutions and Business Alliance partners to design and implement career pathways in four areas of significance to the region: IT/computer science, aviation, advanced manufacturing, and health sciences. Students cannot attain full credentials or participate in advanced skill experiences due to lack of physical space and advanced equipment. The career center will house the school’s advanced manufacturing and aviation programs and will have space for hands-on tasks utilizing advanced equipment. NEAAAT expects to increase the number of students completing Advanced Manufacturing or Aviation Science pathways, earning the Manufacturing Skill Standards Council Safety or Quality Practices and Measurement certificates, and offer the Manufacturing Production & Processes and Maintenance Awareness and full Certified Production Technician 4.0 credentials. NEAAAT also expects to increase the number of students participating annually in Advanced Manufacturing, Aviation, and IT internships. Golden LEAF funds will be used for equipment, furniture, and construction costs.
