Hurricane Florence heavily damaged the space Duplin County leased for its Medic 3 EMS station. The building also flooded during Hurricane Matthew. To ensure service could be maintained in the future, the county relocated the EMS station to nearby county-owned land that did not flood during either storm. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used for the design/engineering and construction of the new EMS station.
