Industrial Park Project

Organization:
County of Ashe
Amount:
$500,000.00
Program Area:
Community-Based Grants Initiative
County of Applicant:
Ashe
Year:
2021
Description:

This award provides funding to Ashe County to support establishment of a 41.7-acre industrial park. The county currently has no vacant industrial sites to market to prospective companies, which has constrained industrial growth in the area. The county will address this issue through the creation of a new industrial park containing five sites ranging in size from 2.2 to 13 acres each. The county has already purchased land for the project and completed an engineering report for the property. This land sits 1.25 miles away from a four-lane divided highway and across the street from several other large industrial buildings. It is expected that the project will generate 108 new jobs and attract $12,350,000 in private investment in the near term. Other funders on this project include Appalachian Regional Commission and Blue Ridge Electric (USDA REDLG). Golden LEAF funds will be used for site preparation- and infrastructure-related costs.
