This award provides funding to James Sprunt Community College to purchase simulation and technology equipment for its renovated nursing facility and nursing programs. The college received an EDA grant of $2,031,000 to relocate its nursing programs on campus. Connect NC Bond funds provided an additional $2,449,065 for the renovation/construction project. Prior to these awards, the college did not have adequate space or equipment to outfit the instructional labs to maximize learning opportunities that will prepare students for work in today’s clinical settings. The project will assist the college with improving its nursing program completion rates and first-time pass rate for licensure exams, and ultimately better address the need for nurses in rural North Carolina counties. Golden LEAF funds will be used for simulation equipment and related technology.
