Description:

Loss of power during Hurricanes Florence and Matthew nearly caused a disruption in water service provided by the Southern Wayne Sanitary District. The district keeps approximately 48 hours of water supply on hand, and prolonged power outages threaten the availability of water. To mitigate potential damage and disruption from future storms, Golden LEAF disaster recovery funds will be used to install back-up generators at three water treatment plants.
