The downtown area of Lillington experiences frequent flooding due to minimal stormwater infrastructure. During flooding, roads become impassable and many business owners experience property damage. Lillington proposes to upgrade and install new stormwater infrastructure to handle flows. The solution for this project was identified in a previous Golden LEAF funded stormwater planning grant. Golden LEAF flood mitigation grant funds will be used for installation of new storm drainage pipes and upsizing of multiple undersized drainage pipes. Existing undersized stormwater infrastructure will be abandoned. The city will contribute up to $250,000 of its funds for this project. Homes and businesses will benefit from this project as will those who use the roads.
Any project more than a couple of years old may not reflect current Board priorities.
