Greenbriar Rd. Flood Mitigation

Organization:
Town of Beech Mountain
Amount:
$995,000.00
Program Area:
Flood Mitigation and Recovery Program
County of Applicant:
Avery
Year:
2024
Description:

Greenbriar Road experiences frequent flooding because of an undersized culvert and infrastructure that traps debris and does not allow for sufficient flow during rain events. As a result, water overtops the road resulting in washouts and damage to the road. Golden LEAF flood mitigation grant funds will be used for engineering and construction to upsize the culvert. Town funds have been used for preliminary engineering and will be used to relocate existing sewer infrastructure. Households in the immediate project area and all users of the road will benefit from this project.
