Flora Macdonald Campus Restoration Project

Organization:
Flora Macdonald Educational Foundation
Amount:
$500,000.00
Program Area:
Disaster Recovery Grant Program
County of Applicant:
Robeson
Year:
2019
Description:

Wind and rain caused by Hurricane Florence resulted in significant damage at the Flora Macdonald Campus. The building houses a K-12 school serving approximately 85 students and 18 staff. Golden LEAF Hurricane Florence Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds will be used to enable immediate mold remediation, roof repair, and boiler relocation. FEMA has urged that these repairs be completed to prevent further damage. They will be reimbursed by FEMA, but the Foundation lacks the financial capacity to begin the work using its own funds. Insurance proceeds are expected, but due to the complexity of the claim, the process is still underway.
