Description:

The purpose of this grant is to provide funding to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) for the expansion of the Underserved Track of its residency program in Family Medicine. This Track is a collaboration between the UNC Department of Family Medicine (DFM) and Piedmont Health Services, which serves as a Community Health Center (CHC) in Caswell County. The Underserved Track establishes a model for training family medicine residents in caring for underserved populations. Expansion of this residency training-initially from two to three residents per year-will recruit and retain students that are more likely to practice in rural North Carolina. Golden LEAF funds will be used to pay for two years of residents’ salaries and benefits.
