This grant provided funding to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) for the expansion of the Underserved Track of its residency program in Family Medicine. This Track is a collaboration between the UNC Department of Family Medicine (DFM) and Piedmont Health Services, which serves as a Community Health Center (CHC) in Caswell County. The Underserved Track established a model for training family medicine residents in caring for underserved populations. Using Golden LEAF funds for additional residents at this facility allowed UNC-CH to recruit and retain students that are more likely to practice in rural North Carolina.
