Hurricane Florence caused substantial damage to a North Topsail Beach town park, including the irrigation system, structures, and the parking lot. The park included docks, tennis courts, volleyball courts, walking areas, and a playground. FEMA estimated more than $200,000 in damage to the park. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used for engineering and other professional fees (surveying, construction administration/oversight, bid assistance) to support the project. FEMA Public Assistance and insurance funding were used for construction expenses.
