The intersection of Crossnore Creek and Dellinger Road experiences frequent flooding as a result of an undersized culvert and infrastructure that traps debris and does not allow for sufficient flow during rain events. As a result, water overtops the road resulting in washouts and damage to the road. Crossnore proposes to replace the culvert with a larger culvert and to increase stormwater storage by widening the ditch bank. This project will increase the flow of water passing below Dellinger Road and prevent streambank destabilization. Golden LEAF funds will be used for engineering and construction. The project will benefit public properties in the immediate project area and users of the Dellinger Road.
