Description:
The grant provided funding to Pitt Community College to support the creation of the Biopharmaceutical Center of Excellence to serve Patheon, a contract development/ biomanufacturer with a site in Greenville, as well as other companies. Patheon was expected to create an additional 567 jobs in North Carolina paying $54,131 and to also make a capital investment in the project of $159 million by 2020. Golden LEAF funds were used to upgrade the College’s Technology Enterprise Center with a new clean room, and to pay for equipment, supplies, and other expenses necessary to train potential employees in solid dose manufacturing operations.
