Description:

This grant provides funding to the Ocracoke Foundation, Inc. (OFI) to install a wastewater system at the Community Square development, which is located in the Town of Ocracoke and owned by OFI. Community Square houses nine locally-owned businesses and two docks that serve four maritime businesses. Lack of modern wastewater hinders sustainability and expansion of business activity at the site. Having a wastewater system will result in the creation of new full-time and part-time jobs and additional hours of operation for some businesses which will benefit existing employees. A wastewater system will also leverage loan options and donor support for the entire Community Square revitalization project. Golden LEAF funds will be used for the wastewater system.
