Flooding from Hurricane Matthew damaged the Cerro Gordo Town Hall. Due to mold, mildew, and unsafe conditions, the building was determined not suitable for the town hall. Funding available from FEMA was inadequate to replace the building and mitigate future flooding. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used to design, engineer, and construct a replacement town hall that was elevated to avoid future flooding.
