The Olympia Volunteer Fire Department station was damaged by wind and flooding caused by Hurricane Florence. Due to the building’s age, repairs were not feasible. The Olympia VFD constructed a new station on higher elevation. Golden LEAF Disaster Recovery Grant Program funds were used for design/engineering, site work, and construction of the replacement station. Insurance proceeds and donated funds were used to complete the project.
