Description:

This grant provided funding to North Carolina Central University (NCCU) to help NCSTEM ID offer professional development in STEM education for middle and high school teachers. It also provided STEM engagement opportunities for students from Nash, Edgecombe, and Martin counties. Student activities included local summer STEM camps, field trips, and internship opportunities at the Biomanufacturing Research Institute and Technology Enterprise (BRITE) at NCCU, as well as local STEM Days. It also created a pipeline for students to filter into STEM educational programs at local community colleges and the BRITE Program at NC Central University. Golden LEAF funds were used for personnel, field trips, supplies, and other program costs.
