Description:

The purpose of this grant is to assist Beaufort County Community College (BCCC) in establishing a boat building and manufacturing program to serve the local boat building industry, which includes nine companies in Beaufort County alone. These companies have expressed the need for a trained and knowledgeable workforce for existing and future job openings. The curriculum will provide training in wooden hull construction, composite hull construction, and “rigging” (electrical, plumbing and engine installation), and will dovetail with training that is being established in Beaufort County Schools. The program is expected to start in Spring 2021. Golden LEAF funds will be used for equipment and initial personnel costs.
